Jonathan Laird is the Director of Music at St. Elizabeth Ann Seton Catholic Church in Lake Ridge, VA, and a professional organist, pianist, and accompanist in the Washington, DC area. He began his music career as a classically trained pianist who developed a high level of improvisational skill from an early age. Mr. Laird demonstrates a mastery of many styles and periods of keyboard and choral music from the medieval period to the present. He has nine years of experience as a choral conductor and demonstrates equal facility on the piano (26 years) and pipe organ (20 years).
As an accompanist Mr. Laird collaborates with vocalists including Irish tenor Anthony Kearns and instrumental soloists such as acclaimed Russian domra
virtuoso Peter Omelchenko. Besides his work with soloists, Mr. Laird is an expert choral accompanist who has garnered the praise of some of the nation’s top choral conductors such as Craig Jessop and Andre Thomas. As a choral accompanist, he has performed in internationally televised concerts in Prague and Budapest. Other performance venues have included Basilica of the National Shrine of the Immaculate Conception, the embassies of Ireland and New Zealand, many appearances at the Kennedy Center and Hylton Performing Arts Center, and other venues throughout the United States.
Mr. Laird holds the Master of Music degree in Sacred Music with concentration in Organ Performance from The Catholic University of America. He studied organ with David Lang and Dr. Ed Moore and choral conducting with Dr. Leo Nestor.
